Brian Taylor is a pianist, conductor, composer, and writer based in New York City. He has conducted performances of some of Broadway’s most iconic shows, including Cats (2016 revival), An American in Paris, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Evita (with Ricky Martin), and Mary Poppins, and played piano for Gypsy, Bad Cinderella, The Phantom of the Opera, Frozen, Aladdin, Les Misérables, On the Twentieth Century, On the Town, A Little Night Music, LoveMusik, and more.

Brian served as Music Supervisor for the North American tour of Cats and Associate Conductor for Unmasked at Paper Mill Playhouse. He’s also collaborated closely with Gavin Lee, aboard Disney Cruise Line, and music directing Gavin’s solo show Steppin’ Out with Fred Astaire at Paper Mill, Birdland, and 54 Below.

His television and concert work includes playing keyboards for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert on NBC (starring John Legend), performing with Renée Fleming and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center, and contributing to numerous New York City Center productions such as Lady Be Good! (with Tommy Tune), I Married an Angel, Sunday in the Park with George (with Jake Gyllenhaal), and Evita.

As an educator, Brian led masterclasses at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in musical theater repertoire, and he maintains a private studio in Queens where he teaches classical piano.

He holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano and Composition from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory and a Master of Music in Opera Coaching from Florida State University. He apprenticed with Florida Grand Opera’s Young Artist Studio — playing Tosca for Deborah Voigt under Renata Scotto’s direction — and accompanied in the voice studios of Barbara Cook, Ira Siff, and Diana Soviero.
